THERE ARE NO TICKETS LEFT FOR THIS WORKSHOP.
Poetry and music have a great deal in common — after all, they are capable of moving us. But how does a poem, which takes us beyond the meaning of the words, actually do this?
In this workshop we will be considering some of the ways in which a poem can be more (or less) musical, and looking at the resources poetry shares with music: sound, rhythm, phrase-lengths, and the cadence of the poem. Above all, what makes a poem lift off the page, and why do we remember poems that do?
Time will be given to kickstart exercises, and to new writing.
Poets of all levels are welcome.
