UNESCO World Poetry Day
Open invitation to mark UNESCO World Poetry Day.
POETRY readings and OPEN MIC with guests from poetrywivenhoe on the theme of the natural world
7.00pm – 9.00pm Tuesday 21st March 2017
at University Campus Suffolk, the Waterfront Building, Ipswich IP4 1QJ.
Lecture theatre 1 (WLTI), ground floor.
The evening will start with a welcome by Professor David Gill, Director of Heritage Futures, University of Suffolk (Suffolk Business School). The first half of the evening will comprise of readings by members of Poetrywivenhoe; there will be an open mic in the second half.
Poets can sign up at the door for a slot of up to three minutes. Poets are welcome to read or perform on any aspect of the natural world. The writing of new poems is particularly encouraged. Poets will be expected to have at least one poem on the theme in their set of poems. They can also bring along their poetry books to sell at the book stall.
There is free entrance, though donations towards light refreshments will be welcome. There will be a 30 minute break 7.45pm – 8.15pm.
Under 16s should be accompanied by an adult.
